Original Note:

This or similar is often captioned on misinformation feeds as showing a "side" of Earth implying that 50% (hemisphere) of surface is covered by Pacific. The Pacific is roughly 30% of surface. This image "viewed close to Earth" doesn't show 50%, or hemisphere, of Earth. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Ocean https://www.wtamu.edu/~cbaird/sq/mobile/2013/05/10/since-one-satellite-can-see-half-of-the-earth-why-do-we-need-more-than-two-satellites-in-a-given-network/
