Assault rifles have been banned in Canada since 1978. The Liberal government attempted, and failed, to re-class several common hunting rifles as “assault rifles” There is no evidence to suggest that the conservative are planning on legalizing assault rifles. https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/history-firearms-canada
