Original Note:
Trees develop thicker bark which does not catch fire or burn easily. Some trees also drop their lower branches as they grow older, which helps prevent fire from climbing up and burning the green needles higher up the tree. https://www.nationalforests.org/our-forests/your-national-forests-magazine/how-trees-survive-and-thrive-after-a-fire#:~:text=Thick%20bark.,frequency%2C%20low%2Dintensity%20fires.
