Yes they can live a very long life, however carbon dating can only provide estimates not a definitive age. Although scientist estimate that the Greenland shark can live at least 250 years, the methods to truly confirm this are still being developed to provide more accuracy. https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/greenland-shark.html
