Original Note:
Inflation was actually up in the month of July breaking the 12 month streak. However this is severely misleading for the average citizen. Energy and food costs are not accounted for in inflation. Since March 2020 Food is up 22.1% Energy is up 39.8% https://www.bls.gov/opub/ted/2023/energy-prices-down-6-4-percent-from-march-2022-to-march-2023.htm#:~:text=Since%20March%202021%2C%20consumer%20prices,compared%20with%202%20years%20earlier. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/coreinflation.asp
