This claim comes from a 2015 book by Tsoi Wing-Mui, "The Secret Emotional Life of Zhou Enlai". https://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/30/world/asia/book-says-zhou-enlai-chinese-premier-may-have-been-gay.html While there has been speculation about Zhou's sexuality, it is unknown whether or not Zhou was actually homosexual as, currently, little evidence exists that suggests he was.
