The phenomenon highlighted has no simple cause, but is linked to ocean currents and global winds - both inherently variable and unpredictable. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/weather-ryan-snoddon-north-atlantic-warmth-1.6876163 It is misleading to treat surface temperatures as reflecting a general heating given the 1.386 billion km³ of water in the oceans.
