The following is an image of a 16th-century Portuguese map of the Motopa empire: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Old_Portuguese_map_of_SA_529.JPG It encompasses most of South Africa. Europeans had a tiny settlement in Cape Town. Claims that Europeans came to South Africa before the Bantu are unfounded.
