The ATF site has a list of all FFLs. The data from June 2023 shows 51,102 FFL Type 1 licenses (4,560 of which are duplicates). These are the licenses commonly associated with a "gun dealer". By including all other license types the number posted is inflated and misleading. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/listing-federal-firearms-licensees
