Original Note:

During cold periods, CO2 is captured in permafrost. It is released during warm periods when the permafrost thaws. So logically, CO2 levels are highest at the end of warm periods and decrease during cold periods when CO2 is trapped by permafrost again. https://arctic.noaa.gov/Report-Card/Report-Card-2019/ArtMID/7916/ArticleID/844/Permafrost-and-the-Global-Carbon-Cycle https://www.annualreviews.org/doi/10.1146/annurev-environ-012220-011847
