Reliance on electric cars is not the "truth of net zero". Switching to EV cars is not an effective climate solution (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41558-020-00921-7). Reducing carbon emissions sufficiently to curb dangerous climate change instead requires changing transport systems towards walking, cycling, public transport.
