Important Context for non-statisticians: The baseline for calculating these Standard Deviation channels is 1981-2010. We are in a warming period, however (https://climate.nasa.gov/global-warming-vs-climate-change/); so Kevin is under-representing the lower bound of the standard deviations, making it seem more anomalous than reality.
