The institution of slavery was abolished with ratification of the 13th Amendment on December 6, 1865, 158 Years ago. https://www.archives.gov/milestone-documents/13th-amendment 247 years ago the Nation was founded upon the signing of the Declaration of Independence. https://history.state.gov/milestones/1776-1783/declaration Institutionalized Slavery only existed in America for 89 years.
