Original Note:

Although many of our genes have counterparts in bananas, these aren’t necessarily made up of the same DNA sequences. The genes we “share” with bananas (20% to 50% depending on methodology) turn out to be only about 1% of our DNA. https://www.newscientist.com/letter/mg17523584-000-people-arent-bananas/ https://science.howstuffworks.com/life/genetic/people-bananas-share-dna.htm#:~:text=So%2C%20if%20a%20scientist%20looked,emails%20Mike%20Francis%2C%20a%20Ph. https://lab.dessimoz.org/blog/2020/12/08/human-banana-orthologs#:~:text=Even%20though%20we%20don%27t,not%20all%20of%20eukaryotic%20life.
