The Lunar Module did not "[travel] to the moon and back". It was carried by the Saturn V launcher, along with the Command Module and Service Module. The LM only had to fly a very short distance from the Moon's orbit to its surface, then back to orbit. https://www.history.com/news/apollo-11-moon-landing-timeline
