Proposed note is incorrect. Article: "Interference by people can cause wildlife to reject their offspring. [NPS] tried repeatedly to reunite the calf with the herd. These efforts failed." Whether or not the calf would have made it swimming, the man caused the herd to reject it. https://www.nps.gov/yell/learn/news/23016.htm
