It is a joke. Reddit Premium does not have this perk and passwords can be longer than 6 characters. https://www.reddit.com/premium 6 characters are actually the minimum width for passwords in Reddit, but the upper limit (not explicitly enforced) seems to be 72 (due to bcrypt limitations). https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/3cp9i6/what_are_the_allowable_characters_and_limitations/
