The child that is the subject of this post was NOT following a Vegan diet. As per source article: "When the child was weaned from breast milk to cow’s milk at 16 months of age, the symptoms had started." https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMicm2213071 Vegans don't consume cow's milk (with possible exception of lab milk)
