The first digits of the number plate read “A3”, in Roman numerals. This is evident by the distinct typeface difference between the 1s later in the number plate and the Is in the first half. Also, the armistice in fact came into effect at 11:00, not 11:11 http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/armistice.htm
