BCE/CE are notations for the Gregorian Calendar and independent of the birth of any religious fig. They're practical for many, ie Hebrew scholars don't have to imply Jesus is lord. The Gregorian cal is no exclusive to xians. Society of Biblical Lit style guide prefers BCE/CE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Era
