Original Note:

This footage of a whale shark is mostly likely acheived through light reflecting off bubbles in the water, not bioluminescent algae. Bio algae only lights up when agitated, so you see the glow more clearly on wave breaks, or boats or animals animals moving through the water: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ08UJ8QNtg&feature=youtu.be https://www.environment.sa.gov.au/goodliving/posts/2018/04/sea-sparkle
