Original Note:

Federal Assault Weapons Ban (AWB), was a subsection of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994. Criminologists and other researchers found that the ban had little to no effect on firearm deaths or the lethality of gun crimes. Hence it was allowed to expire. https://www.rand.org/research/gun-policy/key-findings/gun-policy-in-america.html
