Polar bears have existed for at least 120,000 years. https://www.science.org/content/article/early-polar-bear-discovered-arctic-tundra Over this period the earth's climate has oscillated dramatically. During the Holocene Thermal Maximum 6,000 to 10,000 years ago the Arctic was considerably warmer than today, and polar bears clearly did not go extinct. https://www.annualreviews.org/doi/abs/10.1146/annurev-earth-081420-063858
