While both terms are often used interchangeably, they do have different meanings (https://climate.nasa.gov/global-warming-vs-climate-change.amp). We have evidence (https://www.usgs.gov/programs/climate-research-and-development-program/science/paleoclimate-proxies#overview) that shows the climate has been getting more extreme and temperatures have been warming over time. Additionally, a warming planet may be affecting the jet stream (https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2022/12/23/climate-change-impact-cold-weather/)
