While I realize COVID is alleged to be connected to myocarditis, the NIH in 2012 states myocarditis was a common and sometimes fatal complication of influenza during the previous century. Death from myocarditis was most likely associated with pneumonia and organ failure. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3533457/
