The broadcast was recorded in 16:9. But at the time much of the market was still using 4:3 television sets. Most markets were not able to carry MTV in HD. The only option to display 16:9 in 4:3 is letterbox or pan & scan so they picked the 4:3. If you it in 4:3 it’s fine.
