Birdwatch Note

2023-09-07 18:15:43 UTC - NOT_MISLEADING

There are differing methods to estimate excess mortality and some do have Sweden’s lower than Australia’s. The chart provided in the proposed note shows AUS at 999 excess deaths per million vs. SWE at 1436. That’s a ~30% difference rather than about 50% higher as claimed. https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/sweden-covid-and-excess-deaths-a-look-at-the-data/ https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/australia-recorded-relatively-more-excess-deaths-during-the-covid19-pandemic-than-sweden/news-story/0fdf8df15b4ef00f3534e6ba9626e3b2?amp
