Hydrogen and Helium actually do emit visible light predominantly. Helium emits mostly in 588nm, Yellow, and Hydrogen in Pink/Purple and Aqua Blue This is due to specific electron transitions in the Balmer Series. These spectra are all in the visible spectrum
