The recent average global sea temperature is not the highest ever as claimed. It has been higher in the past, before accurate global temperatures were recorded in ~1850, but we are able to reconstruct the past records. In the Eocene, the mean temperature was much higher. https://www.futurity.org/earth-temperature-climate-paleocene-eocene-siderites-2463362/#:~:text=Accordingly%2C%20between%2057%20and%2055,%C2%B0C%20(73.4%20F).
