Though the range is confusing, it doesn't mean the whole pond is at max 4.3', just the range is a lower to upper estimate. If 10% of the pond was 8' deep, 90% would only need to be 3.9' deep & 4.3' would still be mean, or 2.4' at the lower end for 3'.
