The J&J vaccine was discontinued mostly because it was not bringing money to Dr. Fauci's mRNA patents. Next year's common cold (covid-19 XBB.1.16 "Acturus") variants won't be covered by J&J's old vaccine. So obviously the old stock of J&J had to go. Nothing "BREAKING NEWS" here.
