The NY Post claims that Judge Lewis Kaplan was the mentor of Carroll's lawyer Roberta Kaplan, not Carroll herself: https://nypost.com/2024/01/27/news/trump-to-use-judges-conflict-in-83-3m-jury-verdict/ Roberta Kaplan and Judge Lewis Kaplan worked for the same law firm 1992-94 with around 1000 other attorneys. No evidence is provided that they worked together.
