Original Note:
UK tax rates have significantly decreased since WWII. The highest rate was 99.25% in 1949. It gradually reduced to 83% in the late 1970s and further to 60% in the 1980s under Thatcher's reforms. Now, the top rate is 45%, much lower than post-WWII highs - https://taxmanchambers.com/historic-uk-income-tax-rates-a-journey-through-taxation-evolution/
