Original Note:
When the Constitution was composed, Australian citizenship did not exist. All people in Australian colonies were considered "Subjects of the Crown", including Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders. This was confirmed in law with the Nationality Act 1920 (Cth). https://www.aph.gov.au/binaries/senate/pubs/pops/pop37/irving.pdf https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/225010888 https://quadrant.org.au/opinion/aborigines/2022/07/the-voice-hiding-its-content-from-referendum-voters/
